7/25/26 - For those wondering, our dogs seem to be loving the trip so far - they are obviously getting more time with us = more attention and also more outdoor time with a bunch of new smells. Pali is 14 and Zuma is nearly 14 so we were wondering how hard this would be on them, Lena is 4 so we had no worries about her! Both the old ladies have some arthritis and they dont have the same nerves/muscle control in their rear legs which makes them trip, tip and fall more easily. The way we planned spots and thus drives was to limit the amount of time we would all be in the car between locations. So our longest one was actually our first one out to Almont, which took about 5 hrs all in. Zuma was struggling with what we now think was the heat and possibly just the change at the beginning, she was falling over after really short walks and wouldnt get up on her own. But since the first week she is doing better than she has been in months. And Pali is doing better too! They are getting more walks and they use a ramp to get in and out of our high camper so that must be building back some muscle they have lost and making them do better overall.

They all willingly "hop" in and out of the truck so the rides dont seem to bother them. Pali is so darn cute as usual but shes even more peppy now and ready to run around as best she can every morning. No mind that she then sleeps the rest of the day, she's loving life. Lena has always been a great snuggle and trail dog but a little neurotic, she seems the most out of sort. We take her alone when we hike and it takes her awhile to get in the groove of not being with the other two.

So I would say they are fairing way better than expected thus far
