6/28/26 - We left Evergreen and started out on our adventure! We arrived in beautiful Almont, CO to stay at One mile State Campground tucked up the Taylor River a bit and about 30 minutes south of Crested Butte. There was definitely a haze of smoke around us due to the Ouray fire but only one of the evenings getting dense enough we decided to hang out inside
6/29/26 - On our first day we chose a hike in South Crested Butte - The Caves Trail, which was a steep climb up to more of a tunnel than a cave but it was still really picturesque and decently scary. Just the way we like our hikes. That evening Inness and Mac went for a dip in the Taylor River after the hot and dusty hike, Kelly and Kennedy are too wimpy for mountain river water temps.

6/30/26 - We went into Crested Butte today to ride bikes and spend some time in town. We rode 8 miles from town through wild flower hills and back along the Slate river. The river was incredibly clear with a multi-colored rock bottom. It was really something to see.

We rode into town after and found a cool spot for some HH and Mexican - Bonez. The best part was a "stray" dog wandering around and when folks woudl ask, "who's dog" all the staff said "Oh he just lives in the house behind us". Only in Crested Butte......

7/1/26 - This is our pack up day but Kelly and Inness wanted to get in a ride. Kelly picked this campground (One Mile) because there was a rowdy looking 8 mile downhill trail right across from the campground - Doctor Park. To get there we had to wade through a river and then climb a pretty terrible 4x4 road. Because Kelly didnt want to go earlier in the morning (it was a tid bit cold) we ended up cutting time to close to do the shuttle we were hoping and Inness dropped back down the road liek a true gentlemen and Kelly got to do the downhill :)

Looks like a great start to your trip! Awesome photos. Can’t wait to hear what comes next.
That’s an awesome view thru the rock entrance! Glad you are starting a blog so we can all enjoy the journey😎
