Ketchum, ID - A few days in SunValley

7/13/26 - We arrived at North Fork campground yesterday, it's about 10 minutes North of Ketchum on the Big Wood River in the Sawtooth Recreation Area. After camp set up we caught the Harriman trail right outside of camp for an evening cruise.

Today we drove a bit further North to Galena Lodge for some hiking and biking. Its a cool area within the National forest that has flowy built trails and is a community owned lodge in the Boulder Mountains. We bought the girls pedal assist (e-bikes) for this adventure so we could do bigger family rides but unfortunately, they are not allowed everywhere. So Kelly and the girls did a 5-mile hike to an old cemetery while Inness biked, then Inness convinced Kelly to do a few runs and then a longer XC that dropped her closer to camp. There is so much biking around here, it seems like not only a cool mtn bike spot but a great winter touring/ skiing place. We are thinking of swinging back through this winter (if they actually get any snow) and staying there for some skiing.

After hiking and biking we all wanted to cool off and wash off in the river, Kelly is all talk when it comes to cold water but Mackenzie, Inness and Pali went all in.

7/14/26 - Ketchum Day! Inness got up early to do a long ride, he left from our campground and rode 25 miles up some of them there mtns then dropped into Ketchum about 3.5 hours later. Us ladies met him in town and we all did some wandering and shopping together, mostly because Kelly forgot to pack a swim suit.

7/15/26 - Today we were planning to ride the downhill mtn bike park at Sun Valley resort, but when we got there, we were informed construction was going on that limited trail access. So instead, we creeped around the opulent lodge in full gear then decided to ride the expansive bike path system around Ketchum. We ended up riding 10.5-miles mostly on a paved trail, with one single track adventure. It was a great way to see all the neighborhoods and both parts of the Sun Valley resort. We are loving this town! The houses were beautiful and we all agreed that if we had to live anywhere else, we would live there. We were so hot after the ride, we got ice cream and then had one of Mackenzie's "triple shot of espresso" where you fully submerge yourself in the freezing cold river. That night everyone slept very, very well.

7/16/26 - The old farts got up early today for a mtn bike ride close to camp, not early enough though and they had to cut it short and ride back on the road to get back to the girls when they said they would be there.... They were still able to get a fun ride in though on Chocolate Gulch. After that we packed up and headed to the Idaho cabin :)
